Applying a topical therapy may help temporarily relieve the symptoms but without identifying the root cause of the skin issue it’s likely to reoccur.
Skin problems are often a sign of something deeper. Hormone imbalance, food allergies, nutritional deficiency, and even disease can be at the source of the issue.

The dog, shown in this Before and After photo, came to MASH November 22nd with severe allergies and a skin infection (pyoderma). He had lost approximately 25% of his body weight over the course of 6 months and was extremely lethargic. The owner tried diet change, allergy shots, Atopica, and Apoquel. Despite these efforts, the dog continued to decline.

Upon evaluation by Dr. Ayse Washington, it was determined the dog was suffering from poor gut health. Diagnostics also identified significant hormone imbalances. To address these issues, the dog was prescribed dietary changes/supplements, weekly therapies of Fecal Transplants (MBRT) and Ozone, and hormone replacements.
After 7 weeks, his weight was restored and fur was growing back!
